“Read what Judge Payne says”

Mr. C.E. Tiffany, February 17, 1926
The Fauquier National Bank,
Warrenton, Fauquier Co.,Virginia,

Dear Mr. Tiffany— Answering your kind letter of the 16th, I fear the people of Virginia cannot visualize the tremendous benefits which will accrue to the state from the creation of the Shenandoah National Park. Virginia has such a wealth of history, tradition, climate, soil, and more than all, the most attractive, people, living anywhere, that what she needs more than all else is something that will center the thought of the people of the United States upon her possibilities. However, capable one may be, you cannot now state the benefits that will accrue.

Every effort should therefore be made to consummate this great opportunity.

You do not enclose your blank, but you may put me down for another 50 acres.

My kindest regards. Cordially yours,
Signed John Barton Payne
