By T. Triplett Russell & John K. Gott.

The story begins with the grant of 3,320 acres to Charles Burgess in 1731. This book chronicles the division of the land and the subsequent owners of the various tracts sold by the heirs of Turner Dixon.  It is also the fascinating tale of each of the twelve children who eventually left the valley for lives of their own, the most notable being the eldest son, Henry T. Dixon.

It is also the story of such landmarks as Glenara, White House, Silver Spring, Westwood, Piedmont Farm,Eastwod and Vernon Mills. And the allied families: Shumate Rixey, Morehead Scott, Brown, Lee, Jett and others.
